So what have we learned about the voltage and what is the solution here? Is this ever going to work or should I invest in some bulb indicators again and forget LED for now?

There's some carryover voltage from the alternator which is why it continues to work properly for a short time.
If you really wanted to, you could install regular filament bulbs to get your MOT, then swap back to the LEDs for regular riding.

I would like to encourage you to investigate keeping the front running lights if you keep the LEDs though.  Visibility is important.

This sounds like a plan to me. OK so do you know of any cheap aftermarket bulbs I could get, front and rear that would work on the NH?

Cheap and cheerful just to see if she passes an MOT.

My originals are broken front and back, they are just stalks with nothing to hold onto.

Hey guys. been a while since I managed to get back on here.

So the funniest thing happened the other day. I started the nighthawk just to make sure the battery was ok and the headlight came on, usually it doesn't and... the indicators were working all round.

Strange.. I don't expect that to be the case indefinitely, just flooky I guess and I must have some wiring issues and switch issues too.

What I was asking was, seeing as my original indicators are no longer usable, is there an aftermarket bulb type I could put on for now for an MOT?

I am thinking though if the idle is high enough they might work.

I need to fathom a solution for indicators still and then see if she will pass an MOT and if so, I have another toy to play with which would be awesome. I've wanted to ride this bike for years now and never had the chance. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Looking at your video, the LEDs are integral to the housings you're using so you won't be able to just put different bulbs in them.
If you go to any bike parts store (or look on eBay) you should be able to find something that you can swap for these ones.  Make sure you look for regular filament bulbs and not LEDs though, otherwise you'll just end up in the same situation as now.  Fronts should have two filaments and rears should have a single (or double filaments with only the brighter one connected for the turn signals).
