4 deg. ignition advance.

I want to advance my ignition timing 4 degrees on my 92 750 Nighthawk.

There was a post on BAT by a guy named JPSO86 who did it.

For the record an aftermarket co. usually makes a rotor to do this, but none made for this bike.

If you are/know JPSO86 or know how to alter the timing on the 91-03 Id like to hear it.

Look on the Honda shadow forums under 4 degree mod not that hard to do made a difference on acceleration but not on the top end

well, after much reading, dont think I'll do it.
#1 reason is the pulse generator is no longer available from Honda.

You might find pulse generators on eBay if you want something to tinker with.

Still thinking this over, might do it.
Did it way back on my 98 Blackbird, but this was with a Factory Pro rotor, still available.

Better power across the board and even on the Blackbird I still ran 87 gas.😲 Found my old posts.

Have you done the coil relay mod, and put new plugs and wires on?  Those three things alone woke up my S like I would not have believed possible.

Nope. I have new plugs gapped at .045 in., resistors all removed from the plug caps. I did snip off a little from all ends of the plug wires to get fresh wire.
I did check for voltage drop at the coils, found it minimal.

Im doing this because it is yet ANOTHER compromise to passing the EPA, CARB, ETC.  Along with lean carb jetting which I fixed already.

Well that was stupid easy and quick.
All slotted and reinstalled. Now just have to wait for warm weather to test it.
25F right now. Ran it momentarily in the basement.
If I take it outside, then I'll want to ride it. Ice, snow, salt, etc.  MUST WAIT.

I rode in to Manhattan last weekend!
Too cold right now though, of course.  But it might work sooner than you think.

I'm at 950 ft where I live. Have snow now, more tomorrow, Sat, And Sunday. Not a lot but still.  Winter.Blah.

So I have a timing light ordered. Might as well do this as accurately as possible.

Got 8 in. of snow and now below zero.  Come on spring.

Doing the same experiment to my 2 stroke Yamahopper. It uses a flywheel key that's split for 3.6* of advance.
Lots of experimenting come spring.
