So I'm now in panic mode over what oil to use in my bike. Scared to ride till I figure out what to do , and the weather is FINALLY changing back to spring.

Been using the various diesel oils for a long time in various bikes for many years.

I'm still researching this, but there has been changes AGAIN in the available oils due to the government. This took place late last year. I think.

I happened across posts on the ST1300 site about clutch slippage with the JASO approved Shell Rotella T6 5W40.

I JUST changed my clutch, was using this oil before and it's in there now.

SO...I don't know what to do now.  I really hate using "motorcycle" oil.  You pay a big premium for it, and it frequently isn't that good of an oil.

Are the diesel oils still safe?  Big debate going on right now.

Here's just one post on it.

I've always used the T4, never the T6.  I haven't checked on the formulation lately but it should still be good so long as it carries the JASO-MA designation.

I never really looked at it that way. Figured it wasn't the place to save money.

My dad's passion after training to fly airplanes off a carrier deck in WW2 was airplanes.
We had a small single engine airplane when I was a kid growing up.

He sold it in the 1970's and kind of withered away for the next 40 years watching TV.
Airplanes are expensive, the maintenance, hanger storage, etc. He could have afforded it.

I look at my passion as the most affordable way to feel like you are flying at ground level.
I am totally willing to pay for good tires, and oil. But I am not wealthy and still trying to figure out how I can afford to retire at age 68.

A friend of mine is terminally ill with stage 4 cancer, so it kind of puts things into perspective.
Screw it, buy the good Sh*t.

Dumped out the brand new Rotella☹️😡
Put in Supertech 10w40 synthetic motorcycle oil.  $8.72 a quart.  Price only goes up from there.

Fist couple of rides it seems good.
