The insurance saving is so minimal for me that I don't bother cancelling it.  I also ride throughout the winter if possible.  (Not sure if the Ramapo Motorcycle Club is doing the Crotona Midnight Run this January -- if so I would try to do that again.)

While my 96 750NH is in storage, I just put a windshield on it. Looks good can't wait to try it in warmer weather when the snow stops and green pastures return.

I put these rear sliders on last week because I have started doing parking lot drills (low speed U-turns, figure 8's etc.) I looked at a lot of potential solutions, settled on these because I could use the existing muffler bolt and they stick out far enough to actually save the exhaust pipe from scrapes.

Today went on a 4 hour ride through some canyons I haven't been on for a year. This is one known as "Rossi's Driveway" Hwy 229 off California Rt 58. I rode it up, then back down just like the guy in this article.

And took some other roads off Hwy 58 described in this article https://www.pashnit.com/ca-highway-58 (Pozo Loop, Las Pilitas)

My clutch just started slipping for the first ride of the year.

After an order of $133 from Ron Ayers Honda, it's done!

Kept the metal discs, new everything else.  Metals weren't blue or anything, just glazed/shiny.
I sanded them down with 220 grit.

Worst, biggest job was getting the old gasket off!  Hours! Very tedious and frustrating!  The old one was black, new one is green on engine side, blue on cover side.

Hopefully changed for easier removal.

Friction discs soaked for 24 hrs. due to old gasket.

Rode it yesterday, clutch great again!

My Garmin Zumo XT is mounted to windshield with Ram ball.
Recently added turn signal indicators above the GPS so I can see the damn things.
The 91-2003 NH 750 had a single indicator, and due to it's filament creating an association for both left and right turn signals, you will get a 4-way flash if you replace signals with LED despite specialized flasher modules. This was the solution, separate LED indicators without filament.

Recently installed this cheap voltmeter USB thing. It has an off switch and works well.
I can see the volts go from 12.7 to 14 as soon as the engine starts.

Recently added some high-viz bling to my windscreen (National Street shield EX)

Today went for a 5 hour ride up north through canyons and past some lakes. Very remote area with rolling hills.

That's one solution; another is a pair of diodes:

New headlight bulb.  I know, not that big of a deal.

Should have done it as soon as I got the bike a year plus ago. I think it was the origional.  Smokey inside the bulb.

I bought Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs. Got 2 for $25.

Went from dull yellow to bright white light. I know they don't last long, Year plus.

Thought about LED, but still not perfected, plus I like keeping the whole bike stock looking.

Thought about high wattage bulbs, did that way back on my V65 Sabre. In time it tarnished the reflector and I had a dull headlight.  Had to buy a new one from Honda at over $100.

Honestly I wish I had done that instead of spending $150 for a single Truck-Lite 27270C 7" LED Headlamp

I thought it would just "bolt into" my existing shell but it didn't. So I bought an aftermarket shell from Dime City Cycles but there wasn't enough room inside for all my wiring and it's bezel-ring didn't fit either, so I ended up using my original shell and modified the ring. It was a pain in the ass.

But I am all about being seen, and one of the reasons I got that headlight is it maintains the low beam when you put on the high beam, which is my daytime method. Would I do it again?  No.

Took her for a spin today and finally dealt with the key which had broken off in my hard case lock sometime ago.

Every day is a gift.

It wasn't my Nighthawk, but I got my bike blessed today.  A guy at work had mentioned to me a month or so ago that his church was having their annual blessing and ride today, and he invited me along.  My wife has been a little more wary about bikes since she came off hers several years ago, and I figure that anything I can do to help her feel more secure will keep me riding longer.
So I show up on my silver NC-700X in my high-viz jacket and full-face helmet, to of course find a sea of cruisers with loud pipes, loud stereos, pudding-bowl helmets, tassels, patches, spike-ended grips, tiny mirrors, vests, chaps, intentionally obscured license plates, and quasi-racist/sexist stickers everywhere.  Exactly the type of crowd that I don't like to ride with.  The guy I parked next to was fighting with the trunk lid on his >$35,000 bagger Harley.  I noticed that the hinge was busted and repaired with a bent coat hanger.  Several of the other big bikes seemed to have similar types of workarounds -- tape or adhesive or wire on machines that looked like they had under 2000 miles on them.
I found my colleague, and one of his friends happened to be riding the only other non-Harley, Indian, or Triumph there.  A step-sibling to my own bike, he was on a red CTX750 with the DCT.  Same engine as mine (with a larger bore) but with cruiser styling.  He wanted to check out my bike and as we walked towards it I overheard a couple of my neighbours talking about mine, saying that it was "sporty" and noting the Givi racks for my luggage -- one guy called them saddlebags and his friend corrected him, saying "nuh-uh, on a bike like that you call 'em pan-NEERs."
The ride itself wasn't anything special, but I'd never been part of anything like it before.  Staggered formation (of course) in the right lane, multiple NYPD bike escorts, all intersections and highway entrances blocked off for us as we rolled through at 25mph (occasionally 40mph on the highway).  We took surface streets to the expressway, rode that for 20 minutes or so, and then took an exit to an Elks hall where there was meat and beer.
I'm honestly not sure what the point of it all was.  It wasn't particularly special riding -- basically a commute.  Mostly it seemed to be a big loud group of people wanting to be noticed for reasons that I don't care about.  I'm interested in being seen on my bike solely in order to be as safe as possible, not because I want to preen and beat my chest and swing my dick around.
I'm pretty sure that I ride more in one year than many of them have ridden in their lives, because that's the bit that I enjoy.  But I guess everyone has their own tastes.
