When you apply the front brake, it releases the throttle lock completely - which is a unique feature.
I bought one (see prior post) and will do a review here.

Mine is a NEP also.  If it was $10 when I bought it that was a lot.

I had to lose the throttle lock on my NC when I installed heated grips, so I have a palm paddle instead.  No good for warming up the bike, of course, but a relief on my carpal tunnel on long trips.

Hey it works! cold engine, 50F, full choke, bit of throttle, starts immediately. Can turn off choke at 30 seconds and keep it running with throttle. Fine with me.🙂👍

OK, installed the BrakeAway throttle lock today.  Model 7CP02

You can disengage by tapping the front brake, or pressing the upper button.

I had not tried the NEP throttle lock, but the 2 others that I did try slipped enough to drive me nuts.

This BrakeAway lock is expensive, but has a lot of adjustability. Initially it had a gradual slip, like my old "Vista cruise".
I did 1/8 turn on the tension adjust screw, and now it stays put yet allows me to still move the throttle as needed to control speed.
The best feature is disengage upon braking, that is the only reason I paid that much for it.

Honestly that is the best maintenance there is.
If a bike sits too long, everything goes downhill. Fuel, carbs, battery, even the chain will get stiff links if sits too long (years)

Your correct on letting the bike (or car) sit too long. My Uncle always said it hurts a car more to let it sit than it is to drive it.

I am spending a fortune on tail tidies, indicators, relays and .. upgrading the air filter system to K&N (I know I know, but this time it will work lol).

Replaced my clutch yesterday, works great - no issues.
If your 1991-2003 NH 750 has the original clutch, you will need a special tool to remove the nut that holds the clutch to a main central shaft.
Search Honda part No. 07716-0020203 and you will see an odd shaped socket described as "30mm - 26mm" and you will use the larger size which is 30mm. These are available on Ebay fairly cheap, no need to make one.

You don't need the "clutch holder" tool if you use an impact, like this $44 harbor freight electric one.
On the center stand, put the bike in 5th gear and with gentle pressure on the rear brake the nut will come off very easily.
When putting it back on, the replacement nut will be a standard hex (27mm so if your sockets don't go that big, pick them up while at Harbor freight). Torque setting is 80 Ft/Lb but everything was coated in oil so I just went up to 75 lb on the torque wrench and punched the indent into the shaft (per manual)

Just follow the Clymer manual, or the newer OEM manual for 200-2003 (black cover). The earlier Honda manuals from the 1990's are not as good.

My old parts "looked good" yet there were 3 recent events where I know my RPM increased when gunned throttle, but speed did not increase. so I guess I caught it early. 38,600 miles on the original clutch.

I reused the steel discs, purchased OEM Honda friction discs, gasket, and nut from Partzilla, along with a tube of Hondabond which is a great gasket sealer (very thin coat on both sides of gasket and hope you never have to take it apart again).

Here's the new discs with temporary bolts to hold in place so it can be placed as a single unit (as described in the manual).

Sorry it took so long to update your suggestion regarding the rust spotted center stand that I was sent from a Honda dealer. I returned it (they paid the shipping) and they informed Honda about it. Honda checked and they had 3 more (probably in a distribution warehouse) and they were all rust spotted. The dealer said that Honda will not be making any more, but I needed it and the parts manager was great, he gave me 20% off and shipped it to me for free!

That is awesome. Getting the spring hooked in place on those center stands is a bitch.

The secret is to grab a BUNCH of pennies, nickels, and start bending the spring, place a coin, bend it the opposite direction, place a coin - and eventually the thing is long enough to get in place. Then put the bike on the center stand, which stretches the string and you get your money back.

The other secret is that your chain will put some oil on the center stand and you won't see any flaws in the finish.

Great idea Bob about using coins, sounds like you had experience in that. I will try that. Also, I will sand a little bit on the rust spots and primer and rustoleum the heck out of it. Thanks!

Bob H,

Another quick question for you. I have a 96 NH 750 and this is my first time with a NH. It may sound silly or stupid, but what are the 2 handles (left and right side) that sit just below the seat used for? Looks like grab bars or possibly for bags? Thanks in advance!
