There's a big "properly maintained" caveat given near the start of that video.  Proper storage is needed too.

I used up a 2011 and 2013 tire that came on my bike.
No problems, traction fine in corners, etc.

Thanks for the info guys. Hmmm lots to think about. Cracks in my rubber, I think it's best to err on the side of caution on this one and get some fresh rubber.

With the bike being an unknown, a high pitched whine from the engine, no air filter in the airbox and a slipping clutch, I'm kinda worried about blowing money I don't have on this at this stage, that being said if it saves my life it's a no brainer.

I'll have a look around online and get some prices.

Yeah, those dried out tires are going to grip like wood on asphalt if they are to the point of cracks.

And if you're running without an air filter, you won't be running for long.  For one thing, your mixture will be way off.  For another, you'll be sucking particles into your cylinders.

My 92 has tire info on the VIN plate at the gooseneck.
