Speedo

on my '85 650 Nighthawk, the speedo stopped working. No weird noises, nothing.

I haven't had time to check it out, but my best guess is the cable, but I didn't se the needle jumping.

Anyone else had the same problem?

It happens. Start at the top. Does the inner cable rotate when you spin the front tire? You may need a helper to hold the back down while on the center stand.
