I've read posts that say that standard automotive oil is ok, including synthetic. Others say NO.
Is it one of those things that you try the automotive oil, and if your clutch slips, you replace the clutch plates, lesson learned? I would rather run synthetic, and yes, I have the skills to replace clutch plates, I just don't want to.

I would suggest that you do a search "is automotive oil OK for motorcycle" and you will find your answer.
There is a LOT of data on that subject, and it is not ambiguous, or subject to opinion.
This one is black and white.

I could give you the answer, but that would be like feeding you one meal rather than teaching you how to fish or hunt.

The dino vs. synthetic question is a little more hazy, but Bob is right.  There's a definitive answer on this one.
And not only that, there is a specific oil standard to look for on the bottles.

If you want to use auto oil it can't have resource conserving in the doughnut.

A better choice is diesel oil.  2 of the Shell Rotella blends also meet JASO standards.
