Hey Gang,

I'm making plans to remove the exhaust from my 84 750S to have the headers ceramic coated. It's nothing more than a cosmetic consideration because I'm anal that way. The headers are showing their age and I want to fix it. To my knowledge, the exhaust assembly has never been removed. Other than the crush gaskets at the head, are there any parts I should expect will need replacing? Any comments/warnings/heads-up in general about taking on this task? I should add that non of the nuts at the header flange were seized a year ago when I checked. Hopefully that is still the case.

There aren't any other consumable parts when you take the entire exhaust system off, but I've never separated the headers from the crossover so I don't know if there are collars in there or not.
Removal is not that big of a task -- just a little unwieldy.  Having someone to assist you is a bonus.  I usually remove each of the bolts in turn and replace them with screwdrivers so that I have more control when I am actually lowering the whole assembly to the ground.

There is a gasket in the crossover between the left and right mufflers.

Thanks for the input guys. Larry, I found that gasket thank you. I'll add that to my parts list.

Now, is there anything I should look at while I have the exhaust assembly off? On the bike that is. Something that is much easier to access and deal with without the exhaust getting in the way?
