The future...

Most of us Nighthawk owners are 50+ I'm sure.

My questions are what do you think of the future of ic engines? What about ev? Don't forget the possible takeover of the market by the Chinese, (lower labor costs) to me, even if Chinese motorcycles were a viable alternative to American,  Japanese, European motorcycles, I would worry about serviceability and dealers.

Don't forget the younger generations, they seem to not be as interested in motorcycles as we boomers.

Despite the pushing, e-bikes don't seem to be taking off.  I watched a BDR film where two of the team were on e-bikes  and they did well enough, but they just didn't seem exciting.  Fortnine and a couple of others were talking about this just a couple of days ago, and their takeaway was that range is still a significant issue.  Much like most other EVs, the range is fine for commuting but not for touring.  And while you might be safe enough doing 60 mile days on a BDR, that doesn't leave you much room for error, and the consequences could be pretty dire if you miscalculate.
I can see something like my NC-700X with its more commuter-oriented design being a good candidate for an e-variant, but the NC hasn't been a huge seller for Honda and is generally regarded as somewhat uninspiring.  Not really a "rider's" bike.  I've certainly ridden the snot out of it, but I'm probably atypical.
The Harley crowd, who are often short-distance riders, certainly aren't going to be interested in something as quiet as an e-bike, and they really don't seem to care about torque or speed, so they're not the market.
I know that many young people living in cities don't even bother getting a driver's license, because they are comfortable with the concept of reliable public transport.  If anything, maybe they'll get themselves an e-scooter.
I do think that eventually e-bikes will find a place somewhere, but I'm not sure that place exists just yet.

I feel Motorcycling in general is dying out. The young generation isn't taking to it at all like mine did.
FB Market is FULL of used bikes for sale.
When the tail end of the Boomers stops riding (me) the numbers are really going to bottom out.

Ill stick to my NH or the older used bikes.

Yeah that's the problem. So many distractions.
I just picked up this 2002 750 for $1,000 because of "no crank" and I wanted the extremely rare Givi rack system made for the nighthawk.

And there are 3 "time capsules" that look like they have been stored in a garage their whole life within driving range of me. They just sit there, staring at me, not moving.

As long as parts are available, and I am available, we are good to go.
The nice thing about the late model 750 (and 700s shares essentially same engine, same carbs, etc.) is that they made them for so long. There will always be parts on Ebay.
I am seeing more and more knockoff parts for my model, reminds me of growing up with the Volkswagon beetle. Eventually you could get reproductions of any part of the thing and put one together from knock-off parts.

This bike I just picked up needed starter brushes. The guy must have cranked it forever before having a shop rebuild his carbs this summer. They even put in the bigger jets, runs amazing.
The OEM parts are still available, so I got them. Honda sells the positive brush as separate part number, then you have to buy the brush holder with negative (grounded) brush. Together about $50

Or you could get them both together aftermarket for under $13 https://www.ebay.com/itm/296763672978
If that guy sells out, there are 4 other sellers with the same damn thing

Shame on you!  Telling me love the one your with!😁

Great price! Looks in good shape. Got a fairing and fork brace also.  But no front fender, weird.

At least I stayed in the family.
Incest is best - a game the whole family can play.

The seller was vertically challenged.  Forks dropped 2" in the clamps, and shortened preload spacers. The original fender cracked from hitting the lower clamp, so he tossed it. Now that fork brace hits the lower clamp...  I have some work to do but it runs great. It's kind of a beater.
I may flip it for a garage queen. Mainly I wanted the Givi mount brackets.
