Stebel Nautilus Compact Motorcycle Air Horn

After taking a poll on the former Nighthawk Forum when I inquired about a loud, tough sounding Honda CB750 Nighthawk horn upgrade, I took the advice of a fellow member to purchase the " Stebel Nautilus Compact Motorcycle Air Horn - Loud - Black."

Haven't opened it yet (as recently moved, while bike was simultaneously in the shop awhile), but I believe (if I'm not mistaken) it came with a relay, but not with a wiring kit.

The link to your horn includes the relay - so I would assume you have a relay.

About 8 years ago I got the FIAMM 74100 El Grande which also came with a relay, and just ran spade terminals to the relay and a power source, etc. You don't really need a wiring kit, or something to plug that relay in if you have access to spade terminals.

Personally I don't know if a Stebel relay will plug into a Wolo receiving thing. May be a standard arrangement of pins on the relay - but I don't really know.
I would just use spade lugs, and if I hit the wall go to Autozone, if I felt like I needed more.

The connectors on the wires to the original horn will fit directly on the coil terminals of the relay.

You'll need a #12 wire fed through a 20a fuse from the battery + terminal to one contact terminal of the relay, a #12 wire from the other relay contact terminal to the horn + terminal, and a #12 wire from the horn - terminal to a good ground or the battery - terminal.

This diagram is close enough/ They show #14, but the horn will sound faster with heavier wire.

That is a boatload of wire, and personally I would not need the variety of colors. One spool of a few gauges is all I have ever needed - unless you are completely rewiring something (in which case you may seek a complete wiring harness).
 
Personally I did splurge on a large assortment of posi lock connectors + posi tap connectors on Ebay. It was a couple years ago, felt odd spending over $100 but honestly I have used them a bunch wiring a dash cam on my Nighthawk, turn signals, aux running lights, etc. and that was after putting in a fuse block system a few years earlier that came with posi-locks, posi-taps.

My son and I are quite often needing wire for auto's, moto's, mini's, trailers, etc., and per foot this seems like best value if quality considered okay.

We often need a variety of colors, as we try to match OEM, if/when poss.

Looks good to me, I'll check it out for myself as I do a lot of car/bike wiring - thanks! Home Depot also has wire by the spool, probably at a price difference, can't beat HFT. I'd like to see any obvious quality difference between the two. Need to check this out.

Innov K2 (has front and rear cameras) which is about 4 year old product - not the latest and greatest but I got it about 2 years ago and it appears to be discontinued now.

I looked at all the cheaper ones, resisted spending that much money, but at the time everything else just had too many flakey reviews (mixed in with "glowing" ones that you suspect are fake). The company Innov impressed me with sincerity in their product and documentation, and I would buy it again. it has been bombproof and I do check to make sure the video has recorded at least monthly.
A few years ago NONE of the dash cams on the market for motorcycles appeard to be dependable. I read forum threads from the GoldWing people, the various large sources of information. Innov was having trouble too - but they were honest and in communication with customers and a firmware update appeared to fix everything (on the K2) so I pulled the trigger and it has been great.
Not sure what I would get today, that would be a whole research project - but I am impressed with Innov

I'll take your advice and replace their 14 awg examples with 12 awg; that said, leave their #18 awg as-is or beef that up to something else, too?

In their four diagrams, the bottom left one is most applicable, between that and bottom right, correct?



Also, any harm in buying and adding "off road" tube referenced here; thought maybe might help in rain?



Finally going to try and tackle, before this coming weekend.

Aiming to buy 12 awg red / blk wire and inline 20amp fuse, tomorrow.

Okay, so following Larry Fine's instructions, horn sounds epic.

However, for some odd reason, LED headlight flickers and turn signals blink fast now, despite using relay on new horn.

Any chance I simply connected the wrong wires to the previous/OEM horn's wires on the new relays, for the new horn?

Too tired to mess with any further at this point.

Bike had been sitting awhile, and battery had died, but recently fully recharged via tender, though hadn't ridden yet.

Tell us more. Did you change any bulbs? Might you have accidentally changed anything besides the horn wiring, like a factory ground wire?
