Rubber mounts for handlebars

My 92 750 is developing more and more front and back play in the handlebars.
Checked the nuts underneath the clamp, can't get any tighter.

Looks like I have to order 4 new rubber bushings.  Anyone else had to replace these?

I hate having to order Honda parts when I only have a small order.  Kill you on the shipping. Nothing else I need.

I have about twice your miles (I'm @ 44,000) and no noticeable play.
Did you take that stuff apart when you did your steering bearings?

When I put tapered steering bearings in a couple years ago, I pulled the bars from clamps to access steering stem fasteners but I think I left the risers alone.

Wondering if something got jacked when you did your bearings.

I will take a closer look when I go for a ride later today, but I can't imagine how that nut could bottom out without resulting in a solid "metal on metal" no-rubber wiggle condition.  Maybe you ran out of THREADS but it isn't TIGHT? Like maybe some big "fender washers" in there would enable more threads to tighten the nut fully?
I have seen on the MT-O7 forum where people don't like the rubber mount and just use metal washers for a solid mount
Personally, I have such little movement in my bars (there is a slight amount of cushion) that I wouldn't notice if they were solid-mount.

Nope, never touched them.

They are are #8 in your pic.  Need 4 of them.

Here's my 1993 NH 750 with @ 44,000 miles.
If my cushions started to fail, and the bars got loose, I would just get 4 fender washer and tighten everything up. Could do that as a holding action until you have other OEM parts to order.

Of course the rubber is there to stop vibration - but with an inline 4 the balance is so good that we don't have a vibration issue.

I had 3 Harleys in my early days, none of them had rubber isolated engines or handlebars. They were paint-shakers. Now they are all rubber insulated.

I've got maybe a month till hibernation.  Then I can make a decision, maybe find something else to order.

Sure is a maint. free bike. With all the previous ones I had a long list of maint. to do over every winter. This is it.
