Probably most of us here don't have ABS, (did some Nighthawks have ABS?) but I bet you have it in your car...

No Nighthawks had ABS.
I did have it on my BMW, but never really experimented with it or rode the bike enough to get a sense of how to adjust to it.  It's pretty well-known that adding ABS typically increases stopping distance.  There's normally warnings saying exactly that in the user manual for any vehicle equipped with it.

I had it on my FJ-09.  Was fun to go in the wet grass, hammer the brakes, and not fall down.

On the road it never activated.

I just read an article about the Yamaha Tracer 9 gt new bike that has radar and uses it to help with cruise control distance to leading vehicle and also for stopping with a unique braking "assist" system.  From what I understood it is supposed to help stop quicker than typical abs and what a rider is braking for if there is an eminent crash about to happen(read by the radar and electronics as to the rider now braking hard enough for the speed they are traveling and the distance the object is at).  It'll be interesting to find out after some time how the system works.  And no I don't have one but it looks like a pretty sweet ride.

My thought about technology such as ABS is they complicate the bike, (or car) and later makes it impossible or uneconomical to repair. My 650 Nighthawk was made in '85, and I bet if it had all these "features" that aren't necessary that my bike would be in a junkyard.

I'll stick with carbs, and no ABS and other such "features"
