A lesson, (at least for me)

I went on a trip from California to Kentucky and got back home a week before the Southwest fiasco. (yes, I was on Southwest.)

My next trip was to Monterey to see the famous aquarium.

The problem came while I was in Monterey, I got sick.

First, my background. I've been an electrician and electronics technician and non-professional mechanic for all of my working life.

Before my 2nd trip, I started having carb problems, (1985 650cs Nighthawk) and it wouldn't run.

My plan was to make sure that it was the carbs, but for some reason I removed the battery. Fast forward, I removed the air filter box lid, the plan was to spray starting compound, to see if it would run. It did This helped to verifiy my suspicion.

Long story short, I electrically reconnected the battery backwards, yes backwards. It killed the 30 amp solenoid fuse. I had to rig up a new fuse. Luckily, the bike started with a spray. So now I get to rebuild the carbs.

My lesson is, I will NOT work on the bike when I am feeling sick, even a little bit.
