Pop/creak as I hit rear brake.

Just started doing this.  In the past I've had the rear wheel off mutiple times, all apart, clean, lube brake shoes etc.

Doesn't do it all the time. Step on brake pedal and hear 1 creak/pop that I can feel in the pedal. Brakes work great, no other problem.

Mine occasionally makes a "clunk" due to movement where the inner brake pad holding assembly connects to the 2 foot long stabilizing bar (anchors to frame).

Similar experience, does NOT always do it. I don't consider it something that needs remedy.

My drum brake works better and is more predictable than many disc brake rears I have ridden.

I remember the old forum 12 years ago Loki had over 100,000 miles on his late model NH 750 on the original brake pads and said they looked great. I seldom use the rear, only as a "rudder" stabilizer if I feel I need it. Gravel, wet, or doing slow speed turns.  If you do the front brake at a very slow speed turn you go down.

I agree. Especially since I sand my drum and shoes at every tire change. Roughs it up, gets rid of the glaze.  Works as well or better than a disc brake.

I'm going to have to find out what the creaking is.  Too irritating.

So.  Where the torque arm mounts to the swingarm the hardware wasn't right. There was slight forward and rear play. Had to change the order of washers etc.

When you brake the play moved one way, when you accelerate the play goes back.  even with the required 65 ft. lbs. on the axle nut.
