New member with an 82 450

Hi all.  I've got an 82 Nighthawk 450 as mentioned that I bought several months ago.  It's got a shifting problem I'll post about in the technical section.  It's in great shape other than the issue I created being a newb rider, but it might be too expensive to fix.  Hoping you guys can help me save it.
