I have a 1985 CB 650SC. It has an oil cooler, but my question is, is it thermostically controlled or on all of the time?

If it's like most, one tube is always open for oil flow, the rest via a bi-metallic strip.

I thought that there was no active diversion at all.  Some of the oil goes through it, and some doesn't.  I would check the schematics and/or service manual for confirmation

The reason I asked is because the official service manual representation of the oil passage is confusing.

Service manual for my 700S does not show any active diversion for the oil cooler, just a split in the circuit.  Certainly no thermostat.
